Gu-8 K 25-55 – 0,5/80-120 small red. Clean,
bright red background, Dense, very tasty!
Tomatoes of the Institute of Vegetable Growing at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
(Selektsionny settlement, Merefa, Kharkiv region). T Most are not named varieties yet, but breeding
lines. Earlier this section of the catalog was called “Maxim Viktorovich Gurin’s Tomatoes”, but after M.V.
Gurin left the institute, we changed the name of the section. Some are antho blue tomatoes of
Ukrainian selection and differ from American ones in that the synthesis of anthocyanins in them is
determined not only by the gene American wild tomato, but also two more genes isolated from the
Ukrainian collection of Solanaceae. That is, our tomatoes are richer in the composition of useful
substances and have different fruit color saturation.I define the taste and aroma of these tomatoes as
explosive, saturated, with a bit of exoticism. M. V. Gurin differs from the American ones in the type of
bush. These are powerful, mostly determinant, thick-stemmed standard or semi-stem plants with very
high yields. Thanks to this type of bush, they are suitable both for a small plot and for industrial
cultivation in open ground. The fruits are dense, the pulp is often red.. less often dark pink. For one,
Dean Slater took GU 22…K54-84, claimed he bred it and named it Evil Olive. My Favorites were Gu-18
K 55-62, Mexican Green and Gu-25 Mandalay. Gurin has disappeared and it is supposed that he was
killed by the Russians
